Keep the Pantry Open for All!

Chico State, Basic Needs Project, provides supplemental food and meals through the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry.  In addition, Basic Needs also provides emergency grants, housing, referral services, financial literacy programming, and more for students experiencing food insecurity, hunger, unexpected financial crisis and housing insecurity. Research shows 50% of Chico State students (nearly 7,000 students) experience food insecurity. This is a significant barrier to student success.

We are seeing a greater need than ever before! This year, we expect to give away 250,000 pounds in supplemental food to students, a 25% increase from last year.

Chico State Basic Needs is powered by you!

The Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry is a lifeline for Chico State students, but it can't keep running without your help. Last year alone, we spent $150,000 on food to meet the needs of our students and $50,000 on emergency grants, yet we only raised $90,000. That shortfall means we're facing even greater challenges to ensure every student can focus on their education—not where their next meal is coming from.

Your donation directly impacts students' ability to stay fed and stay in school. By supporting the Basic Needs Project, you’re not just helping us fill the gap—you’re keeping students on track to graduate. You're also becoming part of a powerful tradition of giving back and making a tangible difference in the lives of many hardworking students who rely on the pantry to succeed.

Now more than ever, we need your support to keep the pantry’s doors open. Every gift counts!
