About our club
NSSLHA is an organization on campus dedicated to serving the community, specifically working with people with speech, language, and hearing differences. Every year, NSSLHA gives back to its alumni and the community by hosting a conference offering free continuing education credits to local SLPs. This year, we are proud to announce that we will also be giving back to local advocacy groups related to our field. By donating, you are helping us give back to our community!
How we'll use your gift
This year's annual NSSLHA conference will be held during the spring semester on campus. NSSLHA will be paying our guest speaker for the service they are providing our community. Donations will also be used to provide materials and refreshments for the event. In addition, throughout the 2024-2025 school year, NSSLHA will be giving back to local advocacy groups that support related causes to the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CMSD) field.
Support National Student Speech Language Hearing Association
Support Local SLP's with NSSLHA! Speech-language pathologists are required to complete 24 clock hours of continuing education to renew their license every 2 years. Paying for these classes is an expense that SLPs have to field themselves, which is why NSSLHA gives back to the community by providing about 3 hours of continuing education for free at our annual conference! In helping us fund our conference through your donations, you are actively taking part in giving back to your community. By helping fund NSSLHA you are also helping provide donations to local advocacy groups that work with the community members directly impacted by speech, language, and hearing challenges.
Why we need donations
This year’s speaker, Cassandra Heartstrong, M.A., CCC-SLP, is an expert in the field of Augmentative-Alternative Communication (AAC), and will provide training to both students and local SLPs on vital information about a topic that is foundational to best serving our current/future clientele. Students will one day become professionals, and this conference serves as an enriching and educational experience for our members. In the past, we have been fortunate enough to provide this conference for free. By receiving donations, we can continue to provide this for our members and community. Gaining the knowledge this speaker offers will allow us to one day be better professionals who serve all kinds of communities. When you support NSSLHA, you're supporting local speech-language pathologists and audiologists.
