Description
Chico State provides a captivating educational environment and culture of belonging for all students. We are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring all students succeed with caring, personalized support.
For first-year students, the first semester is crucial to their educational success. Research shows that when students who live on campus have better social integration, successfully complete more units, have a higher-grade point average, and are more likely to complete their degree.
Donations are applied to...
Your gift will help provide gap funding for students who have difficulty affording meal plans.
Doing this will support our changing student demographics, help advance diversity and equity in our residence halls, and help keep Chico State one of the most affordable education options in California!
Why are donations necessary?
We do everything we can to keep the cost of on-campus housing competitive with the local housing market. However, for the 77% of our students dependent on financial aid and scholarships, every dollar saved matters.
As a result, many lower-income students opt for University Village and Konkow Hall apartment-style living simply because the residence includes a kitchen, reducing the meal plan cost for a perceived “savings”. However, we’ve found that those students are more likely to experience food insecurity due to monthly budget shortfalls that limit their ability to afford groceries.
